Google+ to Chatter

You knew it was coming sooner or later! We’ve done Twitter to Chatter and Facebook to Chatter so we’ve just been waiting for Google to make the Google+ API available to kick this one off.

This challenge involves integrating Google+ to Chatter. With very simple setup, a salesforce user should be able to make it so any post they make to Google+ with a specific hashtag (#ch) will also be posted to chatter.

E.g. to Google+ I post “Had a great customer meeting today in lima, ohio, check out this link! #ch” would be posted to Chatter as me.

This is very similar to our Facebook to Chatter challenge. Take a look at the video that accompanied the submission. See the Getting Started on the Google+ API article for more info.

I would imagine that the communication would be from Google+ side to Salesforce side, i.e. a G+ post would result in a chatter post. For this to happen, the component would have to be installed on the G+ side. Am I missing something? Regards, Shashi

Not sure of the exact functionality but we were imagining something like an app that queries/polls the G+ API and then inserts Chatter records into Force.com. Does that make sense?

Yes it does. I was looking at it from the other perspective, i.e. on G+ post, chatter posts are created. Instead what is required is to make periodic queries through G+ API and insert chatter posts. Thanks for the clarification Jeff.
