Mobile Productivity App

User-added image

Supercharge productivity by creating a kick-ass demo mobile app! provides terrific functionality to help users be more productive in Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Collaboration.  This standard functionality is supported by customizations that typically help make the system very effective in meeting an organization's needs.

There are several mobile apps that support - including basic Mobille for working with objects as well as Dashboards for quick and easy Ipad review of your dashboards.  The Chatter app mirrors's standard functionality in a Facebook-like approach. They also have "Touch" coming that should enhance the user experience further.

We'd like to see if there are alternate ideas for to supercharging productivity with a mobile device and also providing an even more unique and engaging user experience.  So, here's the challenge: write a mobile app or HTML front end that makes a user - sales, services, marketing or whoever - more productive in doing a task or set of tasks with a mobile device.  Faster, easier, more fun, whatever spin you want to put on it.

Write a native or HTML5 mobile app for that streamlines a set of tasks or some process in Be creative as we are looking for ideas here! The most kick-ass app wins!

Use jQuery Mobile with Visualforce, Rails with Sencha Touch on Heroku, natvie Android or iOS, etc. We are not too concerned with the technology just that it's hosted on a PaaS platform that we can access (if not native of course).

Upload all your source code as a zip (you can simply zip up your Eclipse project for convenience) and provide any documentation and/or instructions that are needed. Please be clear and concise with any setup instructions.
A video of your application using Jing or Youtube in action is required. A public link of your app would also be appreciated.

Your submission will be judged by a panel of peers based upon this criteria. If you would like to request an extension, please read Can challenge deadlines be extended for more time? on our FAQ. We do not want to grant extensions unless there is a valid reason.

Can you tell me why this challenge changed from 4 days to 17 days?
Enreeco, Nov 01, 2012 at 08:01 AM reply
This is why I never ask for extensions. It's not fair to the guys who plan their family or personal time to make sure they can meet an original deadline, or give up the chance to work on another challenge to meet a deadline. So I'm in favour of the trend I've been seeing on CloudSpokes recently to longer challenges where there should be no reasonable need for anybody to ask for extensions (pending something like Sandy which BTW did affect Toronto). Makes things more fair. Anyway, off my soapbox.

Hi wcheung, I was not upset but apparently there is no reason :)
Enreeco, Nov 01, 2012 at 15:58 PM
You're a classy guy :)
wcheung, Nov 01, 2012 at 16:10 PM
@enreeco, there's a reason and I was waiting on a blog post yesterday to explain it but it's not complete yet. The short answer is that we wanted more involvement from more developers so we extended the deadline (2 days after we launched it) and almost tripled the money. Email with any issues and we cal talk.

Hi, Can you suggest any ideas that you'd like to see in the challenge?
anuragj, Nov 08, 2012 at 04:40 AM reply
After couple of weeks long and I got half-completed project. It's hard to manage time during weekdays. It'd be nice if you extend deadline a little longer.

Does anyone have an objection to extending this challenge?
jeffdonthemic (admin), Nov 16, 2012 at 06:36 AM reply
I'm okay!
Enreeco, Nov 16, 2012 at 06:37 AM
I will submit by original deadline but since this is a free form challenge, I am actually looking forward to seeing what others submit and I sincerely hope there are a number of innovative apps submitted. I have no objection to an extension but I do hope that on time submitters get some extra weightage ;)
talesforce, Nov 16, 2012 at 07:12 AM reply
Please confirm if this will be extended - I'll then use the extra time to polish up my app a bit.
talesforce, Nov 17, 2012 at 05:06 AM reply
We've extended the deadline for another couple of days. Good luck!! Can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
